DAP has announced a slew of promises which it will implement should Pakatan Rakyat seize Putrajaya in the next general elections. At a press conference today, party secretary-general Lim Guan Eng reiterated yet again his promise that RM1,000 would be given to senior citizens, which he defines as those aged 60 and above, as part of the government's annual welfare contribution.

The Federal Court has today struck out former Perak speaker V Sivakumar's notice of motion to set aside an earlier judgment made on April 9 last year. Veteran parliamentarian Karpal Singh has suggested to newly-minted independent members of parliament to be absent from Parliament for six months to pave away for by-elections in their constituencies. In this way, the existing MPs can run again, this time as independents to prove they have the support of their constituents. According to the election law, an elected representative who quit his or her seat is banned from contesting for five years.
